“Ukraine will turn into Israel, we will have to fight constantly,” says commander of the National Guard of Ukraine

The commander of the National Guard of Ukraine, Brigadier General Oleksandr Pivnenko, noted that Ukraine's future war strategy will be based on the Israeli experience. He believes that Ukraine, like Israel, will have to constantly defend itself, and therefore it is necessary to build a strong army so that Ukrainians can “survive as a nation”.

Pivnenko also emphasized that the enemy is now actively operating along the entire front line, so the National Guard continues to develop its capabilities and train commanders. He spoke about this in an interview withUkrinform“.

“We will most likely build an army and prepare according to the model of Israel, but taking into account our national interests, experience, and our vision. If we want to live as a state and survive as a nation, we will constantly have to defend ourselves,” the commander said.

Pivnenko also spoke about recruitment to the National Guard units, which is carried out through a recruiting website, constant advertising and support from the General Staff during mobilization. The number of recruits has increased fourfold.

“Our commanders understand that preparation is the most important thing. Well, they sent an unprepared fighter, and God forbid, he died or lost his position. Then you need to go prepared to take back that position. This is much more difficult than holding it. Therefore, it is better not to lose it. And thanks to the experience of our commanders and high-quality preparation, we had offensive actions almost without losses: only one 300th, and we recaptured 8-9 positions,” the commander said.

He also noted that rotations are expected, but all forces are concentrated at the front, with tasks to strengthen the borders in the frontline and de-occupied territories. Rotations concern battalions and company groups.

Pivnenko also expressed the opinion that Russian troops will soon go on the defensive. According to his estimates, in a month or a month and a half the enemy will not be able to continue an active offensive in many directions. At this time, the Ukrainian defense forces need to form and prepare units.
