The Israeli parliament, the Knesset, passed a bill that prohibits the activities of the UN organization, UNRWA, in the country, which helps Palestinian refugees and works in the Middle East.

The document was supported by 92 legislators, ten were against. Israel noted that more than 10% of UNRWA employees in the Gaza Strip have ties to terrorism, and educational institutions under their auspices promote hatred of Israel.

UNRWA has come under criticism for serving as a front for Hamas terrorists in Gaza. In February, the Israeli army discovered an underground Hamas center directly below the UNRWA headquarters.

Terrorists used schools built under the auspices of UNRWA to store weapons and attack Israeli forces during operations in Gaza. Another bill passed on Monday would ban Israeli government agencies from interacting with UNRWA, which would severely limit its activities in the region.
