At the 10th emergency special session of the UN General Assembly on September 18, 2024, Russian representative Vasily Nebenzya once again demonstrated mastery of manipulationaimed at concealing the true nature of Russian policy. Russia, which is destroying Ukraine and supporting terrorist groups, has once again tried to shift the blame to other countries, accusing Israel and the West of actions that the Kremlin itself is actively engaged in.
“As a result of the Israeli military operation, almost 42,000 Palestinians were killed and almost 100,000 were wounded. This conflict, unprecedented in recent decades, continues to claim the lives of thousands of children, women, and humanitarian workers,” – Nebenzya stated.
“This conflict, unprecedented in recent decades, continues to claim the lives of thousands of children, women, humanitarian workers, and UN staff.”
But is it worth talking about how many civilians died at the hands of Russian troops in Ukraine? Thousands of Ukrainian children, women and the elderly have become victims of Russian aggression, and millions of people have been forced to leave their homes due to large-scale destruction.
Russiawhich claims to be a “peacemaker”, is actually the main terroristContinuing his speech, Nebenzya asserted: “Nothing can justify such collective punishment of the Palestinian people”. However, this statement is a surprisingly accurate reflection of Russian aggression in Ukraine, where the Kremlin is collectively punishing an entire people by bombing schools, hospitals and residential areas.
In his speech, Nebenzya also recalled the “support of the Palestinian people by the international community” in their quest for self-determination:
“The international community has consistently supported the Palestinian people in realizing their right to self-determination through the establishment of an independent Palestinian state.”.
This hypocritical statement sounds especially cynical when Russia simultaneously denies Ukrainians their right to self-determination and tries to destroy their statehood by invading Ukraine in 2022 and destroying the peaceful order in Europe.
When Nebenzya states: “The Americans, along with their NATO allies, continue to supply weapons to Israel, knowing full well that they will be used to attack civilians.”the question arises: is he not describing the actions of Russia, which is arming Hamas and Iran?
It is Russian weapons and equipment that are actively used to attack civilians both in the Middle East and in Ukraine. The Kremlin openly supports terrorist groups such as Hamas and Hezbollah, threatening the security of not only the Middle East, but the entire world.
Nebenzya also mentioned that “International Court finds plausible signs of genocide in Gaza situation”but at the same time Russia itself regularly ignores the decisions of international courts. The issue of genocide is acute precisely in Ukraine, where the Russian army is deliberately destroying the Ukrainian people, trying to wipe them off the face of the earth.
Meanwhile, Russia, while loudly accusing Israel, conceals its own crimes, and its support for terrorists only confirms its desire for global destabilization.
Russia, which constantly spreads disinformation in the international arena, continues its aggressive policy not only in Ukraine but also in the Middle East, developing ties with terrorist regimes and organizations. The Kremlin is trying to divert attention from its own crimes by accusing other countries of the actions that it actively supports.
