Recently, Ukrainian rabbis Moshe Azman And Jonathan Benjamin Markovich were awarded for their contributions to supporting Ukrainian society, especially in the context of the ongoing war with Russia.

Rabbi Moshe Azman received the Order “For the Rozbudova of Ukraine” (For the Development of Ukraine). He expressed his pride for this recognition and emphasized that such awards oblige further efforts.

Kirill Budanov, head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, visited the rabbi Jonathan Benjamin Markovich to present a certificate on assistance and assistance to Ukrainian intelligence. The event also coincided with the celebration of Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year. In response, Rabbi Markovich presented Budanov with a special set of stamps, symbolizing respect and support between different groups in Ukraine.

Moshe Reuven Azman born March 14, 1966 in Leningrad and is one of the leading Jewish leaders in Ukraine. He is actively involved in helping those affected by the war, visiting even dangerous regions. In 2022, he received an award from the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, the Order of Glory of Ukraine, for his humanitarian efforts. In 2023, Rabbi Asman was also awarded “distinction” for his heroic actions under the occupation of Kyiv.

He also received the Order of Merit, III degree (August 18, 2009) – for his significant personal contribution to the development of spirituality in Ukraine, many years of fruitful activity and on the occasion of the 18th anniversary of Ukraine’s independence. In 2010, he refused the award due to the “glorification of Bandera.”

Jonathan Benjamin Markovich made a significant contribution to the development of the Jewish community in Ukraine. He was awarded an honorary award in 2018 from the Association of Lawyers of Ukraine. In 2023, he received gratitude from the Union of Veterans of Kyiv and an award from the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine for services to the people. In addition, he was awarded the Order of Merit, III degree, in 2020 for his significant personal contribution to the development of Ukraine in various fields.
