Biden noted that blocking progress in reducing nuclear arsenals will not bring any benefit to these countries or the world. The President emphasized that reducing the nuclear threat is important despite the dangers of the modern world, namely because of them. He also noted that nuclear risks undermine the norms and agreements that countries have worked together to establish and contradict the vital work of modern Nobel laureates.

Biden said that while visiting Hiroshima last year, he spoke with a survivor of the August 1945 nuclear bombing. This man reminded him of the need to continue moving towards the day when it would be possible to free the world from nuclear weapons.

According to information, today nine countries in the world have nuclear weapons, namely the USA, Great Britain, France, Russia, China, India, Pakistan, North Korea and, probably, Israel.

It is also known about Iran's intentions to create nuclear weapons.

The September incident involving North Korea is part of the growing nuclear threat around the world. In 2024, the United States and China resumed nuclear weapons negotiations after a five-year hiatus.
