October 13, 2025, will go down in history as the day when the Middle East changed the balance of power. Donald Trump achieved the first real victory of his diplomacy, while Putin suffered perhaps the most painful defeat since the beginning of the war against Ukraine.

Trump took the initiative, Moscow lost everything

For many years, the Middle East was considered a sphere of Russian influence. Syria, Iran, contacts with Hamas and Hezbollah — all this allowed Putin to position himself as a player who could keep the region from chaos. Now this myth has collapsed.

.......

As noted by a political observer from the publication “To Be Or”, this is Trump’s first truly independent victory, where the initiative from start to finish belonged to Washington.

Unlike previous agreements, where Israel played a key role, this time it was Trump who became the architect of the negotiations and the person who managed to convince the Arab world to choose the path of peace.

Putin’s failure: rejection and isolation

For the Kremlin, what happened was a blow comparable to the loss of the South Caucasus. Leaders of the Arab League refused to attend the summit in Moscow — out of 22 invited, only two arrived. At the moment when Moscow was preparing the red carpets, the world’s attention was focused on the peace summit in Sharm el-Sheikh, to which Russia was not even invited.

This is already Putin’s third major geopolitical defeat this year — after the signing of the peace agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan mediated by the US and the fall of Bashar al-Assad’s regime in December 2024. Moscow is losing everything: influence, allies, and even the role of mediator, which it once claimed between the Gulf monarchies.

The end of illusions: Russia is no longer a mediator

By betting everything on the war against Ukraine, Russia has effectively burned its diplomatic bridges. In a region where it was once listened to, new partners are now being sought. The Gulf monarchies prefer to negotiate directly with Washington and Jerusalem. Armenia and Azerbaijan are building a new format of cooperation without Moscow’s participation. Even Tehran is increasingly engaging in dialogue with Beijing and Ankara, bypassing the Kremlin.

A peace that is still too fragile

The path to peace in the Middle East remains complex. Hamas, as before, is controlled by Iran and is in no hurry to give up its positions. According to the latest data, militants have returned only 4 out of 26 bodies of hostages, killed two years ago. But even this partial concession shows that the organization, which was used to blackmailing Israel with blood and fear, is losing its last card of influence.

Israel maintains control over the borders, Hezbollah limits itself to demonstrating presence at the Lebanese line, and every attempt at provocation is quickly extinguished by the IDF. While this is not a final peace, it is already a turning point that has not been seen since 2020.

Trump’s new focus: Ukraine

Speaking today in the Knesset, Donald Trump directly stated that after the success in the Middle East, he intends to focus on the Ukrainian direction. His speech included a phrase that is already being quoted by global media:

.......

“Those who bring peace to one region must stop the war in another.”

This statement became the main signal of the day. America is returning to geopolitics as a peacemaker, not an observer. And at this very moment, Russia, cut off from diplomatic tables, remains in the role of an outcast, having lost even those who recently called it an ally.

Memory and justice

At the end of the day, prayers were held in Jerusalem and Tel Aviv in memory of those who died on October 7, 2023. Relatives of the hostages, released today after two years of captivity, were able to say the word “joy” without fear for the first time in a long time.

“Hamas no longer has any hostages. This was the last card they could use to blackmail Israel,” said Trump.

This is not just a diplomatic success — it is the day when one era ended and another began.
